Lake Hopatcong

This is New Jersey’s largest fresh water lake. It offers a wide range of activities including swimming, fishing, boat riding and other selected water sports. It is located in the Hopatcong State Park 40 miles from New York. It is well situated near restaurants, public beaches and marinas. This makes it ideal for an awesome day to escape from the city madness and enjoy the serenity of nature. For swimming safety, swimming is only permitted when there is a lifeguard on duty. Other than having lakeside changing areas and even a concession, playgrounds and volley ball courts are also located near the beach. To top that which is already stated, you can have picnics. Shepherd Lake

This is one of the many water holes in New Jersey. It is located in Ringwood State park. The spring fed waters enable various activities such as swimming (this is also done on scheduled time of between 10 am to 6 pm in the presence of a life guard), canoeing, fishing and boating. It is recommended for its clean beach and environs. This is maintained through a Carry- in/Carry-out program. Hunting is only done in designated areas. You can enjoy the parks exemplary features such as historic manors and various trails.

Swartswood Lake

This lake is located in Swartswood State park that was the first established state park. It came about so that nearby residence can have access to the third largest fresh water lake. The lake draws families due to activities such as swimming, kayaking, boating and even fishing. The swimming area is quite modest and a nice beach that has a nice welcoming effect. You may be able to access facilities such as showers, concessions, changing areas and also first aid stations. The great thing about this park is that it is open all year round through all the seasons. They also use the Carry-in/ Carry-out policy. It is an ideal spot for camping, hunting (only in designated regions), picnicking and other family activities.

Lake Wawayanda

This is a very interesting lake because it has clear waters and this draws people from all over the state. It is located in Wawayanda State park. It is known for its amusing forested hills. There are many adventure trails for a hiking experience and the general atmosphere is divine. Swimming here is ideal due to the clear waters thus being able to view fish even as you swim. Rental boats, canoes, and paddle boats are also available.  It gets really crowded during weekends so consider going there early.
