nj events december 2018

You know it is December in New Jersey when all weekends have fun activities going on around you. From concerts and festivals to kids’ events and theatre shows, December in New Jersey never disappoints. There’s always something for everyone. There’s no way you can get bored. It gets better with the fact that most events in New Jersey are free in December. All you have to do is show up with your loved ones or alone and make friends with New Jersey locals.  Be sure to check out the following events.

Jenkinson’s Aquarium Sea of Lights Festival

This year’s festival takes place from the 14th all the way to the 28th from 6 to 9 pm.  The venue, Jenkinson’s aquarium is one of the most scintillating venues in New Jersey. It gets done up with the festive spirit in the air. Hundreds of Christmas lights, decorations as well as make and take crafts adorning the aquarium. There’s scuba diving for those who like an underwater adrenaline rush, face painting for both children and adults, special guests from animated movies, and so much more. Get to take photos with scuba diving Santa and make friends while at it.

Patriot’s Week

This is by far one of the best ways to celebrate Christmas and exude some patriotism while at it. The Patriot’s week, which runs from December 26th to 31st is a week-long celebration of Trenton’s revolutionary and patriotic role in America’s history. Take advantage of the immersive experience the event offers by commemorating and recognizing Trenton’s pivotal and unique role in the Revolutionary War. The festival features breathtaking enactments of events that took place before, during and after the war. The highlight of the event is Battles of Trenton, a re-enactment on the same streets Trenton fought.  There are also public lectures by topic experts and historians. The event is simply intellectually stimulating as much as it is memorable.

Morris County First Night

You will love Morris County First Night if you are a teetotaler. It is an annual non-alcoholic event that takes place in Morristown, NJ from 4:45pm to midnight. It will take place on the 31st of December, complete with more than 350 artists and up to 80 performers. Free shuttle bus service and parking will be provided. Fun is guaranteed with events for both the young and the old.  With dozens of venues to choose from, you will certainly usher 2019 in style.  There will be two separate displays of fireworks this year – one at 9:15pm and the other at midnight.

Atlantic City New Year’s Eve

What is a New Year’s Eve party without breathtaking views of fireworks? Atlantic City New Year’s Eve party offers just that. The displays are best viewed from the boardwalk right outside Atlantic City Casino.  This year’s fireworks will be displayed from the beachfront. The display will feature mind-blowing and intricately designed scenes complete with vivid effects, grand illuminations ad high aerials. Crowds gather from as early as 8pm when the party starts and goes all the way beyond midnight.
