The Garden State, as New Jersey is called, has a vibrant social calendar that you wouldn’t want to miss. It is called the Diner capital for a reason, with so many eateries in the state! There is so much to do in New Jersey that if you are visiting, you might just want to move closer! There are lots of museums, theaters, concert halls located in and around the state, with plenty of activities and day trips. Dull certainly isn’t in NJ’s vocabulary. Here are some NJ events in August 2019 that you just can’t miss!
Your First Mud Run
If you don’t mind getting a little muddy, plan to attend Your First Mud Run, which is the only such event designed for both parents and the kids. The courses, which are 1.5- 2 miles include 10-16 obstacles, suitable for children and adults. Every person who registers gets free entry to the Splash Zone Water Park as well. The event kicks off at the Boardwalk, Wildwood on 4th August 2019, from 10am-2pm. Charges are between $37 and $45.
New Jersey State Fair
The New Jersey State Fair is one of the most popular NJ events, period. This fair includes agricultural education and competitions, lots of free entertainment, food vendors, rides, and so many more attractions. The competitions are about creating attention toward agriculture and other things that are unique to New Jersey and Sussex. The fair takes place from August 2nd- 11th 2019 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds.
Passaic County Fair
The Passaic County Fair is an annual family event that features food vendors, beer gardens, carnival rides, 4-H tent, pony rides, chess tournaments, petting zoos, and lots more. It will be held from August 15th to 18th 2019 at the Garret Mountain Reservation. On Thursdays, it is Family Day at the fair and you can buy a wristband that allows you to enjoy unlimited ride access. On Friday and Saturday, stunning firework displays are available.
Canal Day Festival
The Canal Day Festival is an old country fair which celebrates the Morris Canal on August 21th 2019 in Hugh Force Canal Park. It also celebrates the contributions the Morris Canal has made toward the development of the local communities residing on its banks. Attend the fair and enjoy lots of family fun, which will feature amazing food, educational events, and craft shows.
Listen to different music from various entertainers on two different stages, and watch performances by New Jersey’s finest artists, featuring Country, Classical, Blues and Rock. Enjoy contemporary and traditional Irish Folk Music. Firework display begins on Robert Street from 7 pm.
Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival
The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival feature an eclectic mix of local and national musicians who perform jazz and blues live on stages such as Damian and the DCQ, Jane Stuart, Slidewinder Blues Band, and others. There are lots of kiddie activities, exotic and local food vendors, quaint crafts and beautiful fireworks Such NJ events are a must, and every year is unique and full of fun!
Find your way to this festival on Saturday August 24th, 2019 from 1 pm to 9 pm at the Great Lawn on the Long Island Promenade.
The Bradley Beach Lobster Fest
Bradley Beach’s wildly popular family event, The Bradley beach Lobster fest, happens at the oceanfront. It features delicious lobster, crafts, beer and wine and kids’ activities. The highlight of the festival is a DJ emcee, 6 bands, more than 180 specialty and craft vendors and a wine and beer garden. Kids’ activities include face painting, sand art, rides, and water slides.
