February 2019 – NJ Events To Attend

february 2019 nj events

The Garden State is known to host quite a gamut of distinct celebrations all year-round. In fact, its annual calendar of events is filled to the brim. There is definitely something for anyone to enjoy. Even through the cold months, NJ events are as exciting as ever. There are plenty of indoor happenings, but the adventurous, outdoor activities are definitely the best! Here are the top five events in NJ this February 2019 that you must check out!

The Havana Cuba All-Stars

Starting February with a bang, the Havana Cuba All-Stars concert at Morristown on February 1 is a festive fête of Cuban music and dance.  The “Asere” or “Friendship” tour features some of Cuba’s best musicians and finest dancers showcasing a variety of Cuban beats. Take part on the spirited spectacle of rhythms and melodies of Cuban music with a fresh twist!

Romancing the Stars

An out-of-this-world Valentine’s Day celebration at the Planetarium, Romancing the Stars is a strictly no children event. It is going to be held on February 14 at Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium. The event promises a fun and unique date night where you can enjoy looking at different night sky attractions. With a background of love songs and stories, celebrate love with a great view of the stars, constellations, and the planets.

Winter Survival Class

Winter may not be the best season to explore the outdoors but it is an opportunity to teach the children about surviving an extreme weather. To be held at Plainsboro Preserve on February 2, the Winter Survival Class would teach about different survival skills. It will also allow the participants to explore New Jersey’s winter environment. If the weather permits, you will experience building a snow shelter or cozy up over a campfire. The class would cost $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Winter Break Camp Days

From February 15 to 19, the Winter Break Camp is an engaging nature activity for children 6 years to 11 years old. It is perfect for the President’s Day Weekend where the kids can participate in farm animal feeding, farm exploration; learn about winter wilderness and survival skills. There are also activities intended for some snow fun (if it snows!), like sledding! The kids will definitely enjoy the long list of activities in the camp.

Maple Sugaring Weekends

The Native Americans started the maple sugaring tradition. The whole family will have a chance to experience this tradition at the Environmental Education Center (EEC) every Saturday and Sunday from February 16 to March 10. Marvel at how the process of sap-collection is done from tree-tapping up to the boiling process where the NJ maple syrup is produced. Dress appropriately as the trails can be covered with snow. The center can also accommodate and may schedule weekday big group tours.

NJ has an enviable location especially in Bergen County. It is located near the bustling New York but far from the big city’s hectic lifestyle. The proximity to the Big Apple is one of the primary reasons why many people are checking out property listings in the Garden State . It is possible to enjoy a diverse choice of entertainment that has that small-town vibe to it. This while still being near to the most prominent financial district in the world.
