Top 8 Home Designs And Building Trends That Will Define 2022

Home Designs And Building Trends

Home design and building trends are becoming more personal. According to some online home design experts, the individuality of homeowners is being shown off more and more through their homes.

A lot of time has been spent at home in the last couple of years – both working and living. That has equated to homeowners wanting an environment that expresses their individual tastes and personalities. They want to be somewhere conducive to enjoyment – whether they’re working there or not. Since traveling wasn’t an option recently, people are expressing the desire for their homes to contain the same experiences they might have enjoyed while traveling.

All of this said, here are some of the building trends and home designs that we may see during the rest of 2022.

Luxurious Outdoors

Expect to see indoor living expanded to the out-of-doors. Porches, patios, and decks are becoming an extension of today’s homeowners’ interiors. It’s not uncommon to see high-end pools coupled with fireplaces, televisions, and other various outdoor living room settings.

Metal Roofs

Decidedly eco-friendly, metal roofs are also long-lasting. What’s more, they’ve become extremely stylish. Accent a roof over windows, over a porch, or use it on the entire home. Between 40 and 70 years is not an uncommon life expectancy for today’s metal roofs.

Building Elements Are Curvier

The straight-line syndrome is out. Expect to see more curvy furniture, barrel-vaulted ceilings, and arched room openings. To reflect curved walkways, decks, or porches, you might spot more arched doors and windows.

Maximalism

Kitschy and high-quality antiques are going to be more and more in demand. This idea will be accented through items that incorporate creative expressions of an owner’s personality. Paint, art, rugs, furnishings, and more will be instrumental. Experiences involving future dream locations and past travel destinations may also be integrated.

Biophilic Design

Homeowners are bringing the outside inside. Maximizing plants, fresh air, sunlight, and other natural elements, involved in both the interior and exterior of homes in 2022, more organic materials and larger windows will be used.

Black Accents

Growing in popularity will be either matte or shiny black appliances, black lacquered entry doors, black window frames, etc. – both indoors and outdoors.

More Color in the Kitchen

All white counters and kitchen cabinets are on the way out. Add some spice with vibrant color, in addition to using the various herbs in your cabinet. More and more cabinet doors and wood cabinets will be painted and countertops changed out. Expect to see more decor involving mixed materials.

Hardwood Patterns

Designers say, growing more popular by the day, are patterns, two-tone inlays, completely different tones, and other various forms of old-world craftsmanship. Expect to see lighter hardwood flooring in just part of a room or throughout an entire space.
